Amy's Story

Amy Brunson was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Dec 2007. It became evident that Amy would be a candidate for a stem cell transplant. This procedure is very expensive and even with medical insurance there are significant non-reimbursable costs. A fundraising campaign has been established with the National Transplant Assistance Fund to help defray uncovered expenses. Feel free to pass this information along to people you know who would be interested in supporting Amy. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
Our relation to Amy is through her brother, Adam, who is our pastor to small groups at our church. We attended a fundraiser for Amy last night where we saw Indiana Jones. I'm sure my numbers are a little off, but she needs to raise about 25K and I think we raised a little over 9K last night!

My new friends

I don't know why, but I really like owls. I know this is a little strange, but I like to nickname our pets in the backyard. A couple of years ago the owl was named "Todd." No idea why he is named that. I just like to be silly. When I saw these owls in the backyard I nearly flipped out.

How can you not think that they are the funniest things you've ever seen??

Toddler bed

I think I was under the assumption that we would move Caroline out of her crib when WE (as in Keith and I) were ready, not when Caroline was ready. Well, last Tuesday we had our small group over from church and unfortunately C was having a hard time going to sleep with all the excitement going on. After several attempts of putting her to bed (still in the crib) I finally decided she's just going to have to cry for a little bit and hopefully go to sleep. About 10min later I hear her at the top of the stairs, fortunately the gate was closed, crying. She had climbed out and it all goes down hill from here! The next night I thought okay, maybe she's forgotten that she knows how to climb out...of course not! I watched her get out and instead of climbing down the railing of the crib she just gets that leg over and lets herself fall to the floor! At this point we decided we really have no choice but to go ahead and convert the crib to a toddler bed. I never realized what a transition this was for kids...at least for mine. Naptime and bedtime at night has not been easy the past couple of nights with the not staying in bed. I think the crib made her feel so safe and now she is having to re-adjust. This is just one more little toddler trial we are facing, but I'm confident we'll get through this...just think potty training is next! :)

It's official friends, the banister is complete!

Well, after a year of being patient my loving husband finally finished the banister! For those that may not know, we started working on the banister last June, so it took about a year to complete. I have to give Keith credit though because he was finishing up his last semester of grad school. Last summer we remodeled our kitchen and we had decided in order for everything to look complete the banister needed to be remodeled as well. Rather than refinish (sand it down, new stain, etc) we decided it would probably turn out better to just build it brand new. Keith actually did it all on his own (the long piece of wood running up and down the stairs was replaced, ballisters installed, and staining). It's really been a blessing that Keith is so handy b/c we've saved tons of $$$. Thank you Keith...it looks great! Unfortunately I forgot to take a before pic, but here's an after:
