caroline's 1st haircut

Maybe I'm a little late at having this done, but I think I'm overly attached to her hair. She has these beautiful, soft, flowing curls that I love and well I've always been afraid that once I would get her haircut they would disappear and she would lose the baby look. After her hair dried she still had curls, so maybe we have a few years left. She was a perfect angel and listened well. She was really excited about the little beads they put in her hair afterwards and of course the lollipop.

my grandmother

My "grandmom", as we called her, past away earlier this week. She passed away suddenly and unfortunately no one was really able to say goodbye to her, as I had the opportunity to do with my grandad. I have comfort in knowing, however, that we will be together again in heaven and as the hymn goes we sang yesterday, "what a day of rejoicing that will be." When I look back on the life Grandmom led the words that come to mind are gentle, quiet, wisdom, content, and most faithful. I know she prayed for years that one day I would come to know Christ as my savior. She was the one who was praying when no one else was. I ultimately made that decision, but I often wonder if it wasn't for her being a prayer warrior and her spiritual wisdom, where would I be today? I've had a special passage from the Bible up on one of my kitchen cabinets for probably close to a year. This passage has even more meaning to me now, knowing it was one of Grandmom's favorite passages and it was shared yesterday:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil."
Proverbs 3: 5-7

We visited Nana and Pops in Dallas last Saturday. We stopped off to visit Pops at the safety fair. We knew Caroline would be excited to see firetrucks, the swat car, horses, and even the helicopter. I think she was especially excited to see Pops in his uniform. On our way to meet up with Pops we were explaining to her what Pops does for a living. This was the extent of our converation afterwards:

Mommy: "Caroline, what do you want to be when you grow up?"

Caroline: "a choo-choo train"

Caroline: "Daddy, when you gonna grow up?"

Daddy: "Caroline, you don't think I'm already grown up?"

Caroline: "not yet."

If you know me well you know that I'm a total news buff. I saw this last night on Greta and thought it was hilarious. The reporters reactions are what make it so funny.

music program

Last week Caroline had her end of the year music program. Unlike most of her classmates, she actually sang and did all of the motions. We felt like the proud parents at a soccer game. She sang "God will give you courage if you ask", "Itsy bitsy spider", and "Jesus loves me."

Can you find her? She spotted us right when she came out. This is her class combined with others. I am so glad we made the decision to put her into preschool. I think it has blessed our lives in more ways that one. Her school year is about to end and then she will get to be at home with her new baby brother.

It's sad to say that I haven't seen my Nana, Pop, and Aunt Kathy in over a year. We were so glad that they were willing to make the drive from Houston to our house the weekend before last. My parents, along with Matt, Jess, and Elena made the trip over as well. We had a good time and it was nice to finally get everyone together. I wish I had more pics, but this is it.
