I feel like it would be only be appropriate after my drama post about being miserable to follow-up and let everyone know that I am feeling much, much better. It only took 18 weeks! I still don't feel 100%, but is that really possible when you are pregnant? I'm thankful that I'm not throwing up everyday anymore and that I have some energy back. I think I'm going through the "second trimester energy spurt" right now b/c I've been organizing the entire house!
The baby has been doing summersaults daily and I can't wait for Caroline to be able to feel him/her move. We find out Feb 10th if we're having a boy or a girl so mark your calendars.

our dog is nuts
For those that may not know we have a 95lbs chocolate lab, named Sydney. We got Sydney about 6 months after we were married and we named her "Sydney" because of an opportunity we had right after we were married to move to Sydney, Australia.
If you've read the book "Marley and Me" then you should hopefully have a little understanding of our dog. I found myself as I read the book replacing "Marley" with "Sydney."
Sydney likes to eat. When I say "eat" I mean not just dog food, but socks, panties, toys, and even baseboards (yes, I mean baseboards as in those things you have in your house.) She typically has a routine of swallowing a sock and then it eventually comes up through her esophagus about 2-3 days later, typically at 2am. I would say she's had with no exaggeration about 20 socks and 5 panties pass through. Don't think I just leave socks/panties on the floor either. I'll have clean laundry on the table and she jumps up to eat them. This is all building up....
Well, on Monday she started throwing up continually for 2 days. I knew this was bound to happen, at some point she would eat something that would not pass. After $150 at the vet he confirmed that there was in fact something in there(no way). He gave us the option of a really strong medicine that may help stir up her stomach or surgery ($1000). We decided to try the medicine. At 2am this morning Keith woke up to that famous noise and he could see a little foot trying to make it's way out of her mouth. He managed to pull out a pair of Caroline's wool stockings. We're fortunate that the medicine actually worked. The vet thinks that Sydney now has a damaged esophagus as well as colon so she's on medication for that.
I'm thankful that I have a champ of a husband for cleaning up all the messes and I'm thankful for his big heart b/c I would have said adios a long time ago.

80 degrees
We went from 80 degrees yesterday to 40 degrees today. I don't necessarily enjoy the weather going back and forth, but it's such a nice break from the cold to get the Spring like days. We really enjoyed the warm days last week while it lasted and tried to spend as much time outside as possible. I was able to capture some sweet Caroline expressions.

sick and tired
My draft from yesterday:
I think I have started to write this post about 3 times and then find myself stopping. I have a tendency to want to blog about all the happy things in my life, but I think it's time to be real and honest. The past 2 months have been extremely challenging for me emotionally and physically. I knew when I got pregnant what I would be up against because I was very sick with Caroline. Sure enough, when I hit the 6 week mark it all started-fatigue, vomitting, and everything else that comes with it. I am now 15 weeks along and the all day pregnancy sickness has been over-shadowed by extreme allergies, which I believe has now turned into some sort of infection. For 2 weeks I have not been able to breathe out of my nose. I have also had a fever on and off since Wed. I think I've called my nurse in desperation everyday this week. I am now on an antibiotic which is making me nausea, mucinex to help the blockage in my nose, tylenol for my fever, and veramyst to help my breathing.
Yesterday Caroline started to get sick. I put her down for her nap with a fever of 103.9 and then yesterday afternoon I think she vomitted 24hrs worth of food. She was up through-out the night last night with a fever and continues to have one this morning.
I want to ask my prayer-warrior friends and family to pray for us in the following areas:
1. This baby would continue to be strong and healthy
2. For God to help me see that there is end in sight and to cope with being continually sick
3. To continue to give Keith a servant's heart to be able to care for us during this time
4. a cheerful heart
Today:
The good news is that Caroline no longer has a fever, just a runny nose. I am starting to begin to breathe again. The bad news is that now Keith is not feeling well. I'm confident though that he will feel better tomorrow b/c that is typical Keith (so jealous). The bad news is that now that the allergies are lessening I'm extremely nausea once again. I just finished eating a handful of crackers and unfortunately was not able to keep them down.
Tomorrow: I go in for my 4 month visit. Please pray that the doctor would not have any issues locating the heartbeat with the doppler and that we have a good visit.

caroline is going to be a big sister!
We've tried to tell everyone, but unfortunately I still don't think everyone knows. If you're finding out through our blog that I'm pregnant I'm so sorry we weren't able to tell you in person...I have good excuses. I'm a little over 13 weeks pregnant. My due date is July 4th! I like to call this baby my "little firecracker" b/c I swear I could feel him/her move as early as 9 weeks, which most say that's impossible. Here's a little Q & A to get some of the questions out of the way:
1. Are you sick? With C I was sick until 7 months. I've been nausea with this baby since the 6 weeks mark. I didn't start vomitting until week 11. You can pray for me in this area b/c it's been difficult.
2. Do you think you'll be on bedrest for 2 months and induced again? Who knows...let's be optimistic!
3. Are you going to find out boy/girl? yes in February
4. Tell the name? nope...sorry Pops
5. Do you want an epidural? heck yeah...bring it on.
